Exercising regularly improves your mood and helps you lose weight and tone your body. Now that warm weather is here, it’s time to get outside and get active.
If looking and feeling good aren’t enough motivation to get you moving, regular exercise also can help you:
- Ward off or manage heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and other chronic diseases
- Strengthen your heart, lungs and entire cardiovascular system
- Get better, more restful sleep
- Stay energized
- Add fun to your life
As a member of the Car-Free Bronx Coalition, Montefiore Medical Center has partnered with several other community organizations to help you stay healthy and fit during the warm weather with Bronx on the Move, a family fitness event held on September 26.
Bring your friends, family and bike
(if you have one) and enjoy a beautiful
Car-Free day on Crotona Parkway from
12:00 noon to 5:00 pm (rain or shine).
A variety of FREE fun activities will
be offered, including Zumba
lessons—a popular dance
and fitness craze—and a
guided bike ride that begins in the park.
Participants also can receive other FREE
perks, such as simple bike repairs, bike
riding lessons, health screenings and
advice on healthy eating.
